This is a highly successful new tradition that the KCAC is very proud of. We will give prizes to the winners, give (awesome) shirts to all of the participants, and fill you with beer and food all weekend. You will be begging to join our club after, and you just might get to for free if you do well enough. All you need to supply are sturdy shoes and athletic clothes. We’ll provide you with handball gloves, goggles, and game balls. The cost for all of this is a mere $20. For information, please download and print the entry form. To our WimbleDotte alumni, we will continue to have our Alumni bracket to see who has progressed the furthest. You better sharpen your game though, we have ‘Dottes that play 5+ times per week and are quickly moving up the ranks among the players, so it’ll be competitive. Entry will be the same as the rookie bracket.

Congratulations and thank you to Matt Campion and his Crew for putting on a Great KC Metro Singles Championship this weekend at the KCKS YMCA.

 Courts – Boys the KCKS YMCA courts are the greatest.  Walls are hard the ball moves fast and the bounces are true.   It is a real treat to get to play on what I understand are the prototype of REAL Handball Courts.

 KC Metro Singles Winners Are…………………

 OPEN – Jonathan Hingey beat Tommy Little 11-8 Tie Breaker in one of the  most exciting matches seen in a long time. Hingey won the first game 14.  Tommy came back beat Hingey 9 in the second.  The Tie Breaker was a barn burner.  Hingey jumps out to an 8-0 lead but the consummate pro and competitor Tommy Little was not done by a long shot.  Tommy battle’s back and tied the match up at 8-8. Tommy and Jonathan each traded serves but a couple of un-returnable crack serves finally won the day for Hingey.

Contenders –  Sam Esser keeps gaining ground in the handball circles with his First KC Metro Handball Championship beating Joe Baska in two games for the Contenders A Crown.

Contenders B – this coming Saturday Jeremy Young will face Paul Baska in the Contenders B finals.  As soon as Jake Esser lets me know where and what time I will fill you in.

50’s Final – Tim Nass had his best weekend of handball in his career beating Buddy Hahs, Jake Esser and Lou Serrone for his FIRST ever Singles Title.  NassT took a page out of Mike Gardner and Tommy Littles instructional, “How to Serve a Handball and Dominate the Front Court” and boy howdy did he ever.   Playing like he did this weekend NassT could have won a lot of singles tournaments.   Great job Tim.

60’s Final – I did not see this one but Answerman “Chris Bolling”  beat Russ Finkle in two.  We all know Answer is a great player but Russ Finkle had a great tournament and beat some real salty players to get to the finals.  Russ beat the terror of the Athletic Club “Jaybird Breidenthal” and then came back in the Semi’s and beat Michael Haar who has won many tournament singles titles.  Congratulations Answer and great job Russ.

Also the unsung hero of the day DOGMAN always there to keep these tournaments moving and on time.   Thanks Dog for all you do.

KC Metro 2012 – Entry

I’ve received a lot of questions about dates for the KC Metro tournament and the KC 3 Wall. There’s a lot of tiny haggling that needs to run through before either of those can be announced, but I will go ahead and put the cart before the horse and tell you the date we are shooting for is 3/30 for the start date of the Metro.

The Camels are fed, the rugs are packed, and the caravan is all ready for our journey across the Missouri dessert. Here is the roster of likely Saturday morning losers:
